Novaland intends to leverage a $250 million investment from Warburg Pincus and others to expand its strategic land bank and finish certain big projects.
A consortium led by Warburg Pincus completed a US$250 million round of fundraising for Novaland Investment Group Joint Stock Company (HOSE: NVL), a member of NovaGroup.
According to a Novaland representative, the investment represents the start of strategic cooperation between Novaland and the US fund.
The partnership will combine Novaland's real estate market position with Warburg Pincus' global real estate experience and knowledge.
Novaland Chairman Bui Xuan Huy said, "We are happy to join Warburg Pincus as a strategic partner."
"Warburg Pincus is one of the world's most well-known and successful private equity firms, and its substantial investment indicates its strong trust in Novaland's growth prospects."
Novaland would benefit from Warburg Pincus' experience aiding successful real estate businesses in Vietnam and Asia, he noted.

The funds will be utilized to acquire land and develop ongoing projects in key locations throughout Vietnam's southern region, leveraging forthcoming infrastructure. Novaland's sole financial advisor was Credit Suisse, a worldwide investment bank and financial services corporation based in Switzerland.
The investment, according to Jeffrey Perlman, managing director, and head of Southeast Asia and Asia Pacific real estate at Warburg Pincus, "reinforces Warburg Pincus' long-term commitment to Vietnam, which has totaled over US$1.5 billion to date," and "continues the firm's track record of backing market leaders in their respective sectors."
"We are very delighted about the opportunity to invest in yet another fantastic Vietnamese firm and look forward to working with the NovaGroup and Novaland management teams."
"We believe Novaland will be able to take advantage of this large market potential, and we will use our network, knowledge, and talents to help Novaland grow its business."
Novaland's next successful fundraising from overseas investors, less than a year after the issuing of international convertible bonds listed on the Singapore Stock Exchange in July 2021, is the Warburg Pincus transaction.
